Description
[edit | edit source]What monsters lie in wait on the path ahead for Wikimedia? And how can Wikimedians join forces to defeat them?
This session combines scenario planning with role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons to explore potential hazards for our movement in the next decade. The presenters will take on roles of movement members to confront a previously-unknown multi-part challenge provided by the Game Master. The format is light and game-like but can cover difficult topics and provoke conversation.
Relationship to the theme
[edit | edit source]This session will address the conference theme — Wikimedia, Free Knowledge and the Sustainable Development Goals — in the following manner:

- A potential challenge for Wikimedia on the road to 2030 have been discussed
- Creative solutions have been explored
- The relationship of people in different roles in the movement are elaborated
- Fun has been had

[edit | edit source]Each Space at Wikimania 2019 will have specific format requests. The program design prioritises submissions which are future-oriented and directly engage the audience. The format of this submission is a:

Ideally, a table where speakers and the GM can sit together and be heard by the audience

Mostly listening, with questions and feedback at the end

An audio recording of the event will probably be more interesting than video, but otherwise a single line of conversation
