Venus Lui (She/Her)
Venus is a long-term Wikipedian, and she is interested in Wikipedia Education Program, GLAM, and 2030 Movement Strategy. She worked as the Project Manager for Wikimedia Hong Kong from 2013 to 2016, and was the leader of the very first Wikipedia Education Program and GLAM Project (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) in Hong Kong, and she has been working on different Wikimedia Projects.
Abstract[edit | edit source]
The presentation focuses on the possibility of outreach in Asia. The collaboration between Wikimedia and the organisations in Asia is important to Open Knowledge. It would be nice to have the people from Asia to share their knowledge on Wikipedia and the sister projects. However, we were facing difficulties when we reached out. In this session, I will be talking about the possibility of outreach in the region, the difficulties, and possible solutions for the situation.
Session Outcomes[edit | edit source]
Through the session, I hope to encourage the participants to discuss and explore the possibility of outreach in Asia together. It would be nice for the Wikipedians to share their experiences and potential solutions.
