Photography policy[edit source]

Hi, a few years back I drafted a suggested revision of the photography policy for Wikimedia events, to better welcome photographers at the event, which you may want to have a look at. See m:User:Mike Peel/Wikimedia event photography, and some background at d:Wikidata talk:WikidataCon 2019/Organization/Feedback. For obvious reasons I won't be able to follow this up more now, though. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 18:17, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

GDPR compliance of Wikimania digital suppliers (no Google Analytics, no proprietary barriers)[edit source]

Thank you everybody,

Can I help in any way to understand how technology decisions are made?

In Wikimania 2023 and next ones, we must not forget to require GDPR compliance for any external web tool in use.

Also, we should make sure that online participation is possible without using proprietary software.

The removal of digital barriers is clearly indicated in the Movement Strategy.

Thank you for your help, please give me whatever feedback.

@Valerio Bozzolan +1
Good points and important to track progress-regress in this field across longer timeline together, rather then just exceptionally.

@Valerio Bozzolan would you be involved in h2023:Tech_Subcommittee/Request_for_Proposal ?

Uh! How have you discovered that page? That's interesting. No, I am not involved in the "Wikimania Tech Subcommittee", but I would like to. Valerio Bozzolan (talk) 16:54, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some potential other partners & audiences to reach out to for representitives[edit source]

In terms of audience, people outside the wikimedia ecosystem rarely hear of Wikimedia. It might be worth reaching out to some of the organisations and communities across this schematic. It could be good to try inviting in more outsiders, even if it's just a couple of representitives.

Within Singapore, maybe a rep from the National University of Singapore (or their graduate school) could be invited. Even organisations like Singapore Biotech Connections may be interested in some of te medical topic areas. Evolution and evolvability (talk) 06:08, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania 2023 swag!![edit source]

Butch mentioned in the TG group: "We at the COT are discussing what items you can get from the conference aside from the ID lace/ lanyard. We remember 2015 there was a backpack, 2019 a tumbler (useful both for hot & cold water), a tote bag in 2013, etc." Let's start an idea list to help the team, right? :)) Ciell (talk) 07:59, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
