WikiAfrica Hour is a monthly vodcast activated by Wiki In Africa to support the activities of the WikiAfrica movement and wikimedians across Africa. WikiAfrica Hour intends to: 1. Share current updates, and highlights of Africa Wikimedians activities 2. Interact with guest(s) (if any), and take questions from community members 3. Promote synergy within the Wiki community by discussing topics, projects, constraints, collaborations, and opportunities.
Description
[edit | edit source]The WikiAfrica Hour has been on for over three years now, and has done a lot in promoting synergy within the Wiki community by discussing topics, projects, constraints, collaborations, and opportunities, among other achievements. With thousands of YouTube viewership, and over 35 informative episodes, we would like to use the poster to share our various achievements with the 2024 Wikimania audience and let people know that we are ready to do more to contribute to the Wikimedia movement in entirety. - How does your session relate to the event theme, Collaboration of the Open?
Not only WikiAfrica Hour has an impact on African Wikimedians but also it has a great impact on Wikimedias all over the world. The vodcast which has so far broadcasted 36 episodes, plus two special editions for Wikimania 2021, has been viewed over 7,700 times on YouTube; and Since its launch in 2021, 321 Wikimedia News items have been shared; and The vodcast has welcomed 101 guest speakers from both within the Wikimedia movement and outside of it, who have shared diverse knowledge that benefits the WikiAfrica Hour audience.

- I am a board member of Egypt Wikimedians User Group and I am the connection and relations officer.
- I am Movement Charter Ambassador to the MENA region and a former member of Leadership Development Working Group (LDWG) for one-year-commitment.
- I have been an active contributor on Arabic Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons since 2019.
- I have led and organized numerous workshops and events and contests in the Egyptian community and the whole Arabic community.
- I am the founder of Wikipedian Editor Project, a project that teaches volunteers to contribute on Wikipedia and the other sister projects.
- I have been working for Wiki In Africa as a WIA facilitator since April 2024.
