[edit | edit source]Organizing photo walks during Wikimania events provides participants with the opportunity to explore the local area while capturing high-quality images that can be used to enhance Wikimedia projects. Commons Photographers User Group is planning to host another photowalk during Wikimania, it's likely to be well-received by attendees who appreciate the chance to combine their passion for photography with their interest in contributing to Wikimedia Commons. - How does your session relate to the event theme, Collaboration of the Open?
Our photowalk session aligns closely with the theme of "Collaboration of the Open" at Wikimania. By bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds, including photographers, Wikimedia contributors, and local volunteers, our session embodies the spirit of collaboration within the open knowledge movement. Through collective exploration and documentation of the surrounding area, participants collaborate in capturing images that contribute to Wikimedia Commons, enriching the collective repository of freely usable media. This collaborative endeavour fosters sharing, learning, and community engagement, embodying the principles of openness and collaboration central to the Wikimania event.

- My name is Suyash Dwivedi, also known as Suaysh.dwivedi within the Wikimedia community. For over a decade, I've been deeply engaged in the Wikimedia movement, contributing actively and holding significant roles within its ecosystem. Currently, I proudly serve as the Vice-Chairman of the Wikimedia Affiliations Committee and as the Chairman of the Commons Photographers User Group.
- My journey in the Wikimedia movement has been multifaceted. I've organized and hosted successful photowalks during Wikimania events, fostering community engagement and collaboration through photography. Additionally, I've contributed extensively to various Wikimedia projects and have served as a jury member, showcasing my dedication to advancing the mission of Wikimedia.
- Beyond my involvement in digital media, I am also passionate about hardware design. I've been involved in projects like IIAB (a low-cost digital library), aiming to democratize access to knowledge, particularly in underserved communities. Through initiatives like IIAB, I strive to bridge the digital divide and empower individuals with access to educational resources.
