GLAM Culture Crawl[edit source]

Staring in 2019 and continuing in 2023, we have supported a "GLAM Wiki Culture Crawl" which was a way for Wikimania attendees to engage with libraries, archives and museums, before the conference gets fully underway. I'm happy to help work with the Wikimania team this year to setup similar types of activities for Katowice or nearby Krakow. Thanks! - Fuzheado (talk) 17:15, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stands, tables, booths…[edit source]

I wonder if you plan to have an area for stands? In meta:OpenRefine we'd be interested in offering a presence where people could come to us to tell us what they need, how they use OpenRefine in Wikimedia projects, and so on. Or should we rather submit a poster instead? − Pintoch (talk) 11:28, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Instructions for scholarship applicants submitting a proposal[edit source]

I did not apply for a scholarship. Will I get a scholarship if my program submission for an onsite session is qualified?

No.

If you select the onsite or the hybrid format and…

  • …do not select that you are a scholar, the organizers will presume you will travel to Katowice at your own expense. This is modifiable if you decide to present remotely instead.
  • …do select that you are a scholar, and we confirm that by checking the scholars' database, you'll be informed that you'll be presenting onsite.

The "No" at the start is clear, but the rest is rather confusing. I think a question somebody will want to ask is, "I applied for a scholarship and I want to present onsite, but I have not received a decision about my scholarship yet. What should I choose in my program submission?"

With that in mind I suggest the following new version, but @Exec8 and ELappen (WMF): would you please check my work?

Please select the "onsite" or "hybrid" format as appropriate, and select that you are a scholar. We will cross-check your program submission with checking the scholars' database. If both your scholarship application and your program submission are successful, you'll be informed that you'll be presenting onsite. If your program submission is successful but your scholarship application isn't, you will have the opportunity to switch to a remote presentation.

Edited per discussion on Telegram - the scholarship committee hopes to give a decision to all scholarship applicants before the program deadline. I've kept the bit of text about choosing "I'm a scholar" and letting the program committee cross-check things, in case one does not receive a decision in time. Thanks for this edit! It feels clear to me the way you've written it. ELappen (WMF) (talk) 00:28, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

CfP Deadline[edit source]

I guess the deadline has been changed from the 3rd to the 10th of April. However, the ''Zonestamp'' link still shows the 3rd?! // Martin Kraft (talk) 19:11, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Martin Kraft! Thanks for spotting this! I've updated the link to reflect the new deadline. Regards, Msz2001 (talk) 20:46, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
