Swapping sessions

[edit source]

Speakers can use this space to exchange slots with one another in the program. If you are a speaker and have a time that you would like to exchange, please post the details in a subsection below. If you find another speaker with the same session duration that would like to swap with you (keeping in mind rooms are different sizes and some have interpretation and some don't), please email wikimania@wikimedia.org and we will swap your sessions in the program.

If you do not find anyone to swap with you for a time that works better, you can always pre-record your session for us to play during your assigned time.

Saturday @ 14:15

[edit source]

Hello, my session "Revision quality algorithms: a subjective view" has been scheduled for Saturday at 14:15. Unfortunately, my return flight departs Katowice at 14:50, so I will be unable to attend sessions after 12:00 on Saturday. Is anyone willing to take that slot? Thanks --Strainu (talk) 13:06, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Solved, thank you! Strainu (talk) 17:43, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Friday @ 15:30

[edit source]

Hi all! My session All for one one for all, united we stand divided we fall has been scheduled on Friday at 15:30. Unfortunately 2 of our panelist will be leaving the day before. Would anyone with an earlier slot of 40 minutes be up for swapping the slot with us? Thanks so much! Sapetti (talk) 14:39, 19 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Sapetti, it looks like we will have a cancellation at 3:30pm on Wednesday in a room with both interpretation and livestream. The slot is 25 minutes, and we can allow you to go until 4:00 (30 minutes), so it is a bit shorter than your original slot but it may accommodate all your panelists? Would you like this time? Links from Lighting talks ends with 404 error. Any way to fix it? Juandev (talk) 21:35, 21 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Juandev, thanks for the report. I've relayed it to the COT. Msz2001 (talk) 21:45, 21 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Schedule conflict between climate sessions

[edit source]

Hi. There are very few sessions on climate change and the two main ones are at the same time: One from 3:30 to 5pm on August 7 and the other from 4 to 5 on August 7. Can one of these be rescheduled? Clayoquot (talk) 18:17, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, @Clayoquot! Creating the program was a nontrivial task and the COT had to rearrange it a few times after noticing conflicts or after receiving change requests from speakers. Therefore, as of now, the preferred way to alter the program is by swapping slots of two willing speakers. Otherwise, it might be very hard or nearly impossible to do. I understand, and thanks for your quick reply! Pinging @Scann FYI. Clayoquot (talk) 22:15, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Can we pick up our lanyards on Tuesday 6th or only on the morning of the 7th? Roundtheworld (talk) 11:31, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Roundtheworld, it will be possible to pick the lanyards the day before Wikimania but only for scholars. Msz2001 (talk) 13:58, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Replace local time by standard time

[edit source]

I propose to replace local time by stardard time abbreviations UTC. For the participants on site, "local time" statement is just fine, but for participants online, this may be quite distracting. Abbreviations like UTC or CET, or other system with an easy way to change time zone would be better I guess. Juandev (talk) 16:59, 5 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Juandev done. Msz2001 (talk) 17:38, 5 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
