ideas for the musical selection[edit source]
1. 'classical' piece – instrumental
- Krzysztof Penderecki (1933–2020): Minuet no. 2 from Three Pieces in Baroque Style for string orchestra (1965, from the film The Saragossa Manuscript)
2. 'folklore' piece – possibly with Polish-language voice parts and chorus
- maybe something from this playlist
Discussion[edit source]
Am I too late to sign up? I play bass, piano, ukulele and sing ... also can play guitar and clarinet but not well. I notice there's no percussion in the line-up - could play simple percussion? Or maybe a piano-like instrument like glockenspiel? CParle (WMF) (talk) 11:16, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Or a melodica might work depending on the arrangement? CParle (WMF) (talk) 11:23, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @CParle (WMF), thank you for your message and no, it is definitely not too late to sign up! Please add your name (indicating your instruments and abilities) to the sign-up section. When you say 'bass', does that mean acoustic (string) bass, or electric bass? I also very much like the glockenspiel and melodica ideas! Gnom (talk) 11:27, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks @Gnom ... I actually can't edit the page directly, it seems to be protected? I used to play double bass in an orchestra in my home town, but that was in the 1980s and it's been electric bass for me ever since - I'd be happy to try and resurrect my double-bass skills if you thought that'd be useful, but I'm very rusty CParle (WMF) (talk) 11:33, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- @CParle (WMF): Okay great, thank you – I am thinking whether I should ask you to play a string bass (mainly for the optics of the ensemble as a whole to be honest, and if I can arrange an instrument for you to play on), or some percussion or effect instrument... Maybe both, if we play two pieces! In the meantime, the protection from the signup page has been lifted, so please go ahead! Gnom (talk) 12:33, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
