Hi @আফতাবুজ্জামান: Mostly done, but can you clarify why Mediawiki:About Wikimania-description/bn is listed twice? Thanks for providing translations! --Ameisenigel (talk) 06:59, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Need your input on a policy impacting gadgets and UserJS[edit source]

Dear interface administrator,

This is Samuel from the Security team and I hope my message finds you well.

There is an ongoing discussion on a proposed policy governing the use of external resources in gadgets and UserJS. The proposed Third-party resources policy aims at making the UserJS and Gadgets landscape a bit safer by encouraging best practices around external resources. After an initial non-public conversation with a small number of interface admins and staff, we've launched a much larger, public consultation to get a wider pool of feedback for improving the policy proposal. Based on the ideas received so far, the proposed policy now includes some of the risks related to user scripts and gadgets loading third-party resources, best practices for gadgets and UserJS developers, and exemptions requirements such as code transparency and inspectability.

As an interface administrator, your feedback and suggestions are warmly welcome until July 17, 2023 on the policy talk page.

Have a great day!

Need your help on welcome template[edit source]

Hellow dear @Ameisenigel,
thank you noting the works of us translators, and that boosts the energy to keep going (:
That said, I wish to welcome new translators.

That said, wish the {{template:welcome}} will be a goodwill soft nudge to keep going on..., only if I will ask @Billinghurst that we mention News and that of 2023 definitely. Or do you mind to revise the template, the part

<quote>: === News ===
  • Wikimania 2022 will be an online event. Wikimania goes live on August 12 and ends on August 14, 2022 (UTC).</unquote>

For translation / internationalization, esp such a wide receiver as Wikimania, I've learnt that number of hands counts; esp for the last four+ weeks to go, and of course, need more during/after Singapore.

I would look for to "pay forward": the encouragement and smile you have given me is a small but a cool nudge to translators joining and supporting Singapore with Wikimania2023. Cheers, Omotecho (talk) 07:15, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Omotecho: While I set up the welcome template, and I tried to have it be able to be dynamic, I definitely don't see that I own it, and would think that the Wikimania2023 would be populating some the subparts of the template. The parts {{Welcome/Wikimania}} and {{Welcome/Whatsnew}} are truly meant to be change as most user talk pages are never going to be highly populated. If you think that there are additional parts, then we move on them. I would suggest if you have a new section that you create a new subpage, perfect it and we can look to include it.  — billinghurst sDrewth 10:57, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, @Billinghurst,
thank you responding so crisply, and you clarified the focal points: we are talking about Welcome/Wikimania and Welcome/Whatsnew.
Yes, your input made me see my ambition. Maybe a side track here, and kindly tell me if we need to move the thread somewhere more visible.
And when you say create a new subpage, I imagine you expect me to write, say, Welcome/translators?
FYI, my motive: the 2023-2024 APP is talking about the translator support, which can't be realistic without a global thesauri for WMF and Movement and Wikimania terms, can it be?
The scenario for a template:Welcome/translators could be:
  1. I would like to ping new translators and welcome them, ask them to keep up translation tasks:
  2. I wish to introduce them to Termbase or other "public" terminology(ies), espeially when working on a large and wide invitation as Wikimania; with more people expected to attend on the virtual space for 2023;
  3. So to speak, those who come forward to translate and support Wikimania have enough energy to catch up with the tight timeframe before/after a global gathering.
  4. Means, we'd better look up at a single set of thesauri.
  5. To catch up variations of terms that translators input, Wikimania does not have enough headroom/days in advance to announcements.
What can we do to help Wikimania organizer/global readers/attendees? They would better not offered confusion caused by the variations of terms in local languages. As a translator myself, that is the bottom line. Cheers, -- Omotecho (talk) 11:25, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have just updated Template:Welcome/Wikimania. Feel free to create a new template/subpage if you believe that it could be helpful. It‘s a wiki! --Ameisenigel (talk) 15:57, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
