In a few sentences tell us about your submissions. What made you and your community want to host the next Wikimania?

Wikimedia Community User Group Rwanda would like to host the next Wikimania because this summit happening in East Africa and for the 2nd time in Africa, will not only be a conducive environment to connect and learn from one another, but also will it be another opportunity for Wikimedians to learn from one another, think of new ideas, establish collaborations and pave a way for the newbies. Our community has been able to organize the WikiIndaba conference successfully makes us feel strongly convicted and prepared for Wikimania.

Requirements[edit source]

Interested community groups do not need to have a venue selected, contracts drafted or sponsor lined up. This is why we are starting the process early. Please provide solid information about the points below to help our decision-making. We will be taking into account various factors about potential sites and hosts especially the cost, accessibility, security, global rotation of Wikimania, and the strength of the organizing team. We hope to announce the location of the 2024 Wikimania by March 2023. If you are interested in hosting a Wikimania in 2025 or later, you can submit your expression here as well.

  • The venue has Kigali Convention Center 291 rooms including, 212 Superior Rooms, 4 Accessible Rooms, 67 Executive Rooms, 5 Junior Suites, 5 Suites, Family rooms and 1 elegant Royal Suite.

Venue[edit source]

Kigali Convention centre is a premium events venue in Rwanda since its opening in 2016 and a hugely popular MICE destination in the East African region. The multifaceted design reflects a true Rwandan homestead. The dome shape Auditorium reproduces a hut in the King's Palace and boasts a capacity of 2600 guests, whereas, the hotel's architectural façade replicates a traditional and colourful weaved basket. Despite this nod to the past the centre also boasts cutting-edge technology, high-speed internet, and audio-visual equipment expected of a world-class facility. It hosted CHOGM 2022 SUMMIT.

  • From 1st Jan 2018, Nationals of all countries receive visas on arrival at Kigali International Airport and all land borders. Citizens of countries members of the follow- ing international organizations;

Kigali Convention Center has a number of venue possibilities for the conference or meeting in Kigali with 18 spacious rooms featuring retractable walls, high ceilings and high-quality AV equipment.
