I'm requesting admin and translation admin rights to be able to delete empty translations. As a GS, I can delete the individual translation units, but if a whole page needs to be deleted, eg 2019:Wikimania/simple or Wikimania/simple, I can't delete them and there is no easy way to tag them for deletion by others, so it often takes a while for them to be handled. I'd also like to be able to clean up translation syntax and make pages for translation if needed (I have experience with the translation extension from other wikis). Exec8

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, my tour of duty is extended until the end of the next physical/ in-person Wikimania. I am requesting for administrator and translation administrator rights. I have attended in WM2015 in Mexico City, and I am former sysop & TA on this wiki. Also I have sysop rights at Wikidata, Polish Wikipedia and Outreach wiki. Hi @Billinghurst and Eric Luth (WMSE):, I am in the Core Organizing Team for WIkimania 2021 and for that, I request administration and translation admin rights on this wiki, so that I can prepare relevant pages for Wikimania 2021. Regarding my experience, I am currently an admin on Bengali Wikisource and was an admin on Bengali Wikipedia till 2018. @Bodhisattwa:  Done To note that each organising committee is in control of the wiki for the year. So this is that committee's wiki in 2021, so I/we are here to take your instruction of managing rights for this year. That could be the allocation of someone to have 'crat rights for the year if that is your committee's wish, and to organise the site, with the background support of the ongoing personnel here just doing the leg work and underlying general maintenance. Well, that was the arrangement that Eric Luth put in place with with his call for volunteers. Hi @Billinghurst and Eric Luth (WMSE):, I am in the Core Organizing Team for WIkimania 2021 and for that, I request administration and translation admin rights on this wiki. Retired in good standing as an admin on EN:WP after 13 years of service, current admin on Commons. Uploader, to upload this non-free image for the death section of this wiki. Can be for a very brief period as a result, but ping me either way. Alternatively an admin may upload the image themselves. I am a bit surprised that mere disagreement is used as a basis for refusal of a request, given that there is prior precedent to giving this right without much discussion. YOU are asking ME to grant you rights, and I cannot in my conscious do that without the consensus of the community or a direction from the organising committee. I am responsible for my actions, and making you an administrator is not one for which I wish to be responsible. I am allowed to follow my conscious in my decisions when you are shoving me for a decision. Please don't misquote me, I said ... "disagreement with some of your decision-making" ... should I have highlighted the latter part? There is little spam, it is managed; and you were proposing to do something that is outside of WMF policy. Re-upload, my understanding is there needs to be a local policy to exempt a wiki from the generally applied copyright provisions of the site. I do not see a local policy that allows free-use items, so I will defer to the current organising committee. If one can be found at one of the old wikis, then please point to it and we will import it, and use it as the basis. The basis for thus decision is m:Copyright  — billinghurst sDrewth

I set up a system where any user could put the translations of the Mediawiki: messages, and have it flagged in RecentChanges where there were changes to be put into place. request for translation admin rights

Hi, all

I've just discovered wikimania.wikimedia.org pages exist and translated a few of them from EN -> FR, on the flow. I have already a background in such translations (see my activity) and I can extend them to wikimania.wikimedia.org too if needed. Is it possible to request translator admin rights here ? The purpose would be to split/correct/adapt EN texts into translation units and made them translatable like I usually do, without requesting each time the help of an admin beacause a tag is misplaced or other.

New rights

@Billinghurst: could you provide bureaucrat rights to User:Bodhisattwa and myself? Temporary for the next few months would be fine, if that's desirable.

 Done @Effeietsanders: You are the organising committee and that is how it is meant to be happening, you set the criteria for the year. If that is not clear in any of the text then please flag that and we can make the required improvement. Rights is not meant to be the whim of those who put their hand up for the general maintenance aspects. We act at your direction, your committee directs the "consensus". CKoerner (WMF) (Translation admin rights)

Hello to the powers that be. I'm helping prepare the Wikimania 2021 evaluation report for publication. I'd like to request translation admin rights. Temporarily if desired, but I have a feeling I'll be doing this again next year :). I'm working on marking the pages for translations at the moment and want to be able to check my work and have the pages in a good state for others to be able to translate.
