Are you a "Newcomer" to our Hackathons? Welcome! We are excited to have you join us at Wikimania 2023!

At our hackathons, a "newcomer" can be defined in many way. Maybe this is your first time at a hackathon? Maybe you are new to Wikimedia? Maybe you have been around for a while but would just like some help connecting with people and projects. No matter which group you fit into, we are here to help you!

At this year's hackathon we have created an exciting Newcomers Track that covers an introduction to Wikimedia Tech featuring intro sessions and beginner-friendly workshops, along with a program to pair novices with projects or people who can provide orientation.

Pro Tip: To ensure you get the best Hackathon experience, make sure to join in on Hackathon day 1 (Tuesday August 15th) for the Newcomer Orientation Session.

We recognise the value of mentorship in supporting creativity, learning, and growth.
